The rich and varied natural surroundings offer excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits in Hollola. Several downhill ski slopes and about 200 kilometres of maintained hiking and cross-country skiing tracks can be found on the gentle slopes of Salpausselkä and amid the magnificent scenery of Tiirismaa. These tracks link up with the illuminated outdoor recreation area of Heinsuo. There are excellent opportunities for fishing, boating and all sorts of water sports in the extensive waterways of Hollola. In close proximity to the Heinsuo outdoor recreation area are skating rinks, tennis courts and the Messilä golf course.

On the shore of
Lake Vesijärvi in Messilä there is a marina, a camping site and a caravan park. Jetties
and berths can also be found near Hollola church and in the area known as Vesikansa. There
is a connection from Lake Vesijärvi to Lake Päijänne and Keitele. The many well-kept
beaches and swimming pools offer recreation for young and old. The swimming pool activity
centre, and the sports centre next door are equipped with full-size courts, a gym and a
judo room., as well as providing young people with facilities for other activities
including shooting and darts.
The public swimming pool was finished in 1986. The
main pool is 25 metres long and has four lanes. There is also a children’s pool and a
special pool where one can swim against a current. The water is cleaned by open sand
filtering and ozonizing.
